About IENE
Structure & Organisation
The founding members of the IENE form the General Assembly of the partners, which meets at regular intervals during the year. This Assembly acts also as a Board of Directors which is responsible for all the vital decisions regarding the functioning of the Institute.
Parallel to the General Assembly functions the Executive Committee composed of 5 members elected by the General Assembly having the responsibility for the everyday running of the Institute. The Executive Committee reports to the General Assembly on the management of matters of the membership and undertakes the execution of the decisions of the Assembly.
The scientific work of the Institute is conducted through its various commitees which have been set up, or will be set up, and cover all basic sectors of energy.
The committees cover the following subjects:
- Energy Policy and Geopolitics.
- Hydrocarbons(including upstream & downstream- and natural gas).
- Electricity (covers solid fuels, hydroelectricity and nuclear energy).
- Utilisation of Renewable Energy Resources.
- Hydrogen.
- Energy and Transport.
- Energy and the Environment (covers the "Greenhouse effect", climate change, CO2 , etc.).
The chairmen and members of the committees are scientists, engineers or senior executives of large corporations with significant experience in their respective fields. The chairmen come usually from the founding members of the Institute or are co-opted from outside IENE.
